Your Questions, Our Answers

  • How are kitchens and participants selected?
We carefully select kitchens and food-professionals through an online form and personal introductions. We know right away who has the motivation, profile, and vision to make the perfect match.
  • Who decides which kitchen and chef/entrepreneur work together?
we use advanced AI-driven matchmaking to connect kitchen owners and renters based on a wide range of parameters, including availability, location, and specific needs. Our team facilitates the initial introduction, but the final decision to accept a request always rests with the kitchen owner.
  • Who pays what?
The renter pays for the hours of kitchen use, which includes all utilities. They also provide a refundable deposit to the kitchen owner, which they’ll get back after everything is wrapped up.
  • What is the service fee for?
Think of the service fee as the "secret sauce" that keeps Cookwork running smoothly! It covers everything from general overhead costs and maintaining our awesome platform to marketing your kitchens far and wide and paying our hardworking team. In short, it’s what helps us connect you with the perfect kitchen or renter while ensuring a seamless experience for everyone involved.
  • What about food safety?
Every entrepreneur needs an AFSCA/FAVV license before starting their project—it’s the golden ticket for food safety compliance! You can easily apply for it online at www.afsca.be/www.favv.be. Need a hand? The Cookwork team is here to help you navigate the process, so you can focus on what really matters: making delicious food!
  • What if something goes wrong (financial issues, accidents, etc.)?
As a kitchen owner, most insurance policies already cover incidents like fire, accidents, or other mishaps during the rental period—but it’s always a good idea to double-check your policy. Better safe than sorry! And don’t worry, all entrepreneurs renting through Cookwork are required to have their own insurance too, giving you an extra layer of protection.
  • Can the kitchen owner stop the collaboration?
Great partnerships are built on trust and mutual respect. It’s important that both parties feel good about the collaboration. While the trial production session helps test the waters, the collaboration can only be ended during this period for urgent reasons. Afterward, you’re free to decide if it’s the right fit for everyone involved.
  • Who handles the logistics in the kitchen?
Every kitchen and business is unique, so we leave room for flexibility and tailor-made solutions. Practical arrangements are worked out together between the kitchen owner and the renter, ensuring it suits everyone’s needs. Whether it’s organizing schedules or setting ground rules, we’re all about creating a recipe for smooth collaboration!
  • How much does it cost to rent a kitchen?
Just like crafting the perfect recipe, the cost of renting a kitchen depends on several key ingredients: Location: A kitchen in the heart of the city might have a premium price tag, while a suburban spot could be more budget-friendly. Equipment Available: Need that top-of-the-line espresso machine or a wood-fired oven? The more specialized the gear, the spicier the price. Duration of Rental: Whether you're whipping up a quick batch of cookies or preparing a month-long feast, the length of your stay will influence the cost. Intended Use: Hosting a gourmet cooking class, a food photoshoot, or mass-producing your secret sauce? Different uses can add different flavors to the pricing.
  • How can I calculate the best rental price for my kitchen?
Setting the perfect price for your kitchen is like seasoning a dish—balance is key! Here's the recipe: Assess Your Assets: Consider your kitchen's prime location, spacious layout, and that shiny new mixer. Premium features can fetch premium prices. Scope Out the Competition: Take a stroll through the local culinary scene to see what other kitchen spaces are charging. Staying competitive keeps your kitchen in high demand. Factor in Expenses: Don't forget to account for utilities, cleaning supplies, and that secret stash of coffee beans. Covering your costs ensures a profitable venture. Flexible Pricing Models: Offering a smorgasbord of options—daily, weekly or monthly rates—can attract a wider clientele. Remember, pricing your kitchen is an art and a science. Aim for a rate that reflects the value of your space and appeals to the culinary creators you're eager to host. And otherwise, we're here to help!
